"PHOTOGRAPHY IS LIKE A LANGUAGE TO ME, IT IS MY STRONGEST FORM OF COMMUNICATION."
Ross Oscar Knight is an international photographer, creative director, speaker and avid yogi capturing lifestyle images and documenting culture.
Knight’s interest in photography began in grade school when a teacher gave him a disposable film camera as a way to communicate differently because of his childhood stutter. He quickly realized that by weaving the visual moments together and arranging the images chronologically as stories, he was able to speak clearly in front of his class during “show and tell”, and that’s when he fell in love with the transformative power of photography.
While photography remained his passion, Knight pursued a career in electrical engineering until a genealogy search for his multiracial roots and his thirst to travel prompted a change. In 2007, he left his career in the utility industry to follow his dream of becoming an international photographer. To date, he has traveled to six different continents to observe, participate in, and photograph cultural ceremonies and commercial work that fulfill his passion to understand and communicate the beauty of the human story unfolding.
With his camera, Ross connects with his subjects by exploring their authenticity, their cultures and the environments in which they live. As a result, his audience is given an insight into his heart and soul and his art becomes as much of a representation of himself as it is of his subjects.
Knight’s work has appeared in prominent media outlets across the globe including CNN, Oprah Winfrey, HGTV, the NBA, Forbes and Essence. Ross is a trusted member of the Professional Photographers of America, serves on the board of the arts organization WonderRoot, is Co-Director of the global diversity platform Beautiful in Every Shade, and in 2014, published his first book containing selections of his work. Ross and his wife, Brandi, reside in metro Atlanta with their daughters, Addison and Bailey.
